Magna Radio Show Round-Up: Blur, Bridgerton Clues and a Trip to the Moon

Thursday brought another packed morning across Magna Radio, with plenty of music, games and moments that got listeners talking.

Mark kicked things off with The Six Thirty Two, serving up a double play from Blur to start the day. The feature returns tomorrow with another artist taking over the 6:30 slot.

First Words had listeners quickly on the mark. The lyrics “Let it never be said that romance is dead” were correctly identified as Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs, with Carl, Chris in Grimsby and Vicky all getting it right. Another round lands just before 7am tomorrow.

Just a Sec made its return with a brand new clip. Day one proved tricky, with only a single drumbeat revealed so far. One thing we do know, it is not Oasis. A slightly longer snippet will be played after 7am tomorrow.

Mind the Gap also kept listeners guessing. The latest clip features Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, but no correct answers yet. The game continues tomorrow at around 8:15am.

The Lincs Link connected Crazy Chick, Emma Bunton and Sweet Like Chocolate, all linked by an Easter theme. Well done to Phil, Mark, Lisa and many others who got it right. The next themed trio arrives Monday at 9:30am.

Looking ahead, Rozalla joins the show tomorrow after 9am, plus there is a Hot Cross Bun taste test planned.

Over on John’s show, there was plenty of conversation to keep listeners entertained.

Highlights included a quiz team of younger players in Reepham who thought Blackadder was a band, and a light-hearted disagreement between John and his daughter Eleanor on the way to her drum lesson, centred around timekeeping.

Listeners also got stuck into what your favourite pasta shape says about you. Apparently, if you go for spaghetti, you like things simple and familiar.

Tomorrow is Good Friday, and John is joined by Michael Moody from Moody’s Holiday Lets in Skegness. Expect plenty of ideas on where to head this summer, with Michael bringing his social media personality to the studio.

The Topical Tune focused on space, following news of a Nasa spacecraft now orbiting Earth after the Artemis II mission launch. The crew are safe and in great spirits as they prepare to circle the Moon.

Today’s Top 5:
5. Slade – Far Far Away
4. Erasure – Let’s Send One More Rocket To The Moon
3. RAH Band – Clouds Across The Moon
2. Savage Garden – To The Moon & Back

  1. The Waterboys – The Whole Of The Moon

Another busy day across Magna Radio, with more to come tomorrow as the Easter weekend gets underway.
