What a show today. Firm Favourites was a lovely one this afternoon, with the team over at the Mablethorpe Sweet Company sharing their personal picks. Always good to shine a bit of light on local businesses like that, and sweets are never a bad topic.
One Moment In Time had you all scratching your heads trying to pin down the year Newark Riverside Park was completed, that gorgeous stretch opposite the castle that cost £1.5 million. The clues were there if you knew where to look. Tony Hadley headlined the Newark Festival that year, and Steps were in the charts with Tragedy. Did you get it?
I also ended up telling the story of quite possibly the worst work experience placement in history. Picture a teenage Rob Hammond, first day at Barclays in Louth, sitting at a desk, minding his own business, and then accidentally pressing the panic alarm. Not ideal. Three armed police units turned up. Three. I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. It still makes me cringe now, though everyone seemed to find it funnier than I did when I shared it today.
