Magna Radio Show Roundup: Monday
It was another busy start to the week across Magna Radio, with plenty happening on Mark’s Breakfast Show, John’s show and over on Magna Mix with Adam.
Mark’s Breakfast Show
The Six Thirty Two featured a double play from Manic Street Preachers, with another two songs from the same artist lined up for tomorrow at 6.30am.
First Words had listeners guessing the lyrics:
“If you see a faded sign at the side of the road that says fifteen miles to the…”
The correct answer was Love Shack by The B-52s, spotted by Cazzy, Lisa and Fiona. Another set of lyrics is coming your way just before 7am tomorrow.
Just a Sec, the tiny snippet game, was correctly guessed today by Mike in Lincoln. The track was Don’t Marry Her by The Beautiful South, so a brand new clip will be played just after 7am tomorrow.
Mind the Gap featured a clip of Ryan Gosling, with the missing word being “howling”. Correct guesses came in from Bradders, Cally Anne, Sophie and more. A new round will be played at around 8.15am tomorrow.
The Lincs Link brought together Wax – Bridge to Your Heart, Snap – The Power and Lady Gaga – Poker Face. The connection was card games. Well done to Jim, Vicky in Birchwood, Smithy and many others who got it right. Another themed threesome returns at 9.30am tomorrow.
John’s Show
John powered through Monday after eight nights on the trot across Lincolnshire, with the show fuelled firmly by caffeine.
There was a lively start to the morning as comedian Samantha Day joined John in the studio, alongside Lee and Lizzie from Red Shoe Entertainment, to officially launch Magna Presents Lincoln Laughs. Safe to say, there were plenty of laughs to go around.
Looking ahead to Friday, John will be joined by Michael Moody from Moody’s Holiday Lets in Skegness as co-host. If his social media is anything to go by, it should be a good one.
Topical Tune took listeners to Japan, where one hotel is offering a truly unusual check-in experience. Guests are greeted by robot dinosaur receptionists, inspiring a suitably themed set of songs:
Walk The Dinosaur – Was (Not Was) (Tina, Pete and Hooch in Hykeham)
Turn Around – Phats & Small (Stevie in Branston)
Back In Time – Pitbull (Janet in Mablethorpe)
I Wasn’t Expecting That – Jamie Lawson (Chris in Lincoln)
Right Back Where We Started From – Maxine Nightingale (Danny in Skegness)
Adam on Magna Mix
Adam was back with his Monday update on Magna Mix, bringing a mix of facts, fun and a few Magna rules.
The Magna Mindblower revealed that bananas are actually radioactive. They contain potassium, including a tiny amount of radioactive potassium-40. You would need to eat around 10 million bananas at once for it to be dangerous, but technically every banana is slightly radioactive. Eat enough and you might just start lighting the way home.
In The Magna Charter, Law 30 was introduced.
The crime: reserving a sun lounger with a towel at 7am before disappearing to the breakfast buffet.
The punishment: your towel is removed, replaced with a note reading “Nice try,” and you are escorted to the kids club where you must entertain over-excited little ones for an hour.
The Magna Fourplay challenged listeners with four words: Banner, Prince, Stark and Lang.
The connection was superheroes’ real surnames: Bruce Banner (Hulk), Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Scott Lang (Ant Man).
Adam is back again tomorrow with another Magna Mindblower, a brand new law from the Magna Charter and another round of Magna Fourplay.
Stay tuned as we create more great radio on Magna Radio.
