The first deliveries of South Holland's new waste and recycling bins are now underway, marking another important milestone in the council's Waste Transformation Programme.
Over the coming weeks, around 45,000 households across the district will receive their new waste and recycling containers ahead of the launch of the new collection service later this year.
The new service is designed to make it easier for residents to recycle more from home, helping to increase recycling rates, reduce the amount of waste requiring disposal and support national environmental ambitions.
Councillor Jim Astill, said: "It's great to see the first deliveries of our new bins getting underway. This is a significant milestone in one of the biggest improvements to household waste and recycling services in South Holland for many years.
"Over the coming weeks, every eligible household will receive the containers they need for the new service. These changes will make it easier for residents to recycle more materials from home, helping us reduce waste and protect the environment for future generations.
"I'd like to thank residents in advance for their patience while deliveries are completed across the district and remind everyone that, although the bins may arrive over the coming weeks, they should continue using their existing collection service until we let them know the new collections are ready to begin."
Every eligible household will receive:
A black-lidded bin for general waste
A blue-lidded bin for mixed dry recycling
A purple-lidded bin for paper and card recycling
A food waste caddy pack, including an indoor kitchen caddy, outdoor food waste caddy and starter liners
Because deliveries are taking place across the whole district, some households will receive their bins before others. Residents are asked to be patient while the delivery programme is completed.
