John Marshall’s Thursday Recap: Holiday Brain, London Plans and Apocalypse Anthems

John Marshall admitted he was already mentally on holiday during today’s show on Magna Radio, and listeners could definitely tell.

You know that feeling when you’re about to head away for the weekend or jet off on holiday, but your brain clocks out before you do? That was exactly the situation in the studio, with John struggling to keep his concentration firmly on work while his mind drifted towards London plans, theatre trips and good food.

John is heading to the capital with his daughter Eleanor for a packed weekend that includes seeing Matilda The Musical, catching The Lottery Winners live and, in John’s own words, “eating, drinking and arguing.”

Rob Hammond Takes Over Friday

Rob Hammond is back behind the mic this Friday while John enjoys a well-earned break.

Co-host Friday is also taking a short pause for a couple of weeks, with upcoming shows broadcasting live from Air Ambulance HQ on Friday 22nd May.

Looking ahead to Thursday 29th May, John will be joined between 12pm and 1pm by Mark Steele, lead singer of popular local cover band Stolen Fridays.

Topical Tune: Is The End Near?

Today’s Topical Tune was inspired by headlines surrounding the River Euphrates, after reports suggested the famous river is continuing to dry up. Some interpretations of the Book of Revelation claim it could signal the beginning of the apocalypse.

Naturally, listeners responded with some brilliantly themed song choices:

5. Boyz II Men – Water Runs Dry (Lucie in Retford)
4. Level 42 – It’s Over (Gary in Nettleton)
3. Thin Lizzy – Don’t Believe A Word (Yvonne in Scunthorpe)
2. Ronan Keating – If Tomorrow Never Comes (Tracy in Lincoln)
1. R.E.M. – It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (Carl in Newark)
