New Holland Parish Council is set to expand green spaces and meet growing local demand for allotments thanks to a £15,000 community grant from North Lincolnshire Council.
The parish council has also invested £21,213 of its own funds to support the project.
The investment will enable the purchase of land dedicated to allotments for residents. The new site will provide much-needed outdoor space for people of all ages to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers, while also offering important health and wellbeing benefits.
Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “We are delighted to support New Holland Parish Council with this community grant.
“Creating new allotment space brings huge benefits – improving wellbeing, strengthening communities and enhancing the local environment.
“This is exactly the kind of project residents tell us matters to them, and we’re committed to continuing to deliver for local people right across North Lincolnshire.”
Allotments bring communities together, encourage sustainable living and create opportunities for people to enjoy being outdoors.
The expanded provision in New Holland will give more residents the chance to take up gardening, share skills and strengthen local connections.
North Lincolnshire Council’s Community Grant Fund continues to back projects that matter most to local communities – improving public spaces, supporting sports and leisure activities, enhancing village facilities and empowering residents to take pride in where they live.
The scheme has supported hundreds of community-led initiatives across the region, ensuring investment reaches the places where it has the biggest impact.
The new allotment land will offer residents opportunities to grow their own produce, learn new skills and contribute to a greener, more sustainable community.
