Lucy Tower multi-storey car park, Lincoln

City of Lincoln Council has renewed the Public Space Protection Order covering three city centre multi-storey car parks: Lucy Tower, Broadgate and Lincoln Central.

The order gives council officers and Lincolnshire Police extra powers to deal with problems such as drug use, intimidating behaviour, loitering and public urination. It will stay in place for another three years.

A new rule has also been added. People who don't have a car parked there can now be stopped from hanging around, touching or interfering with parking equipment without a good reason.

The changes had strong public backing: 94% of people who took part in the summer consultation supported renewing the order, and everyone who answered supported the new rule.
