Millions of holidaymakers and visitors will be coming to East Lindsey this summer and many will be bringing their dogs along too.
Dog tourism is a fast-growing industry around the world. East Lindsey District Council is commissioning a series of short films and photography to showcase dog-friendly venues along the Lincolnshire Coast and Wolds. The promotional campaign has been funded by the East Lindsey Investment Fund and will be launched later this year.
The team at Lincoln based production company, Electric Egg, are filming with dog owners and their pets at various locations this summer.
Film director, Steve Hatton, said: "Filmmaking at the best of times is a challenge, trying to bring everything together whether it's the light or the venue or working with extras and people and volunteers. But when you add into that extra mix a dog - sometimes that can be a challenge! Fortunately, some of the people we have been working with own incredibly well-behaved dogs. It has been an absolute pleasure!"
The rise in Dog Tourism
Dog tourism is soaring in popularity across the globe. In January 2026, Tripadvisor released its annual Trendcast Report and confirmed that bookings for dog-friendly experiences were up by 260% year on year.
The report predicts key global trends for travellers this year - informed by company insights and based on search, booking and behavioural data, along with user generated content - from Tripadvisor's more than one billion reviews and contributions. The travel guidance platform revealed that many travellers are now planning holidays around their pets, rather than leaving them at home.
East Lindsey Investment Fund and free training for tourism businesses
Tourism, events and boosting the visitor economy are one of the four key priorities for the £20m East Lindsey Investment Fund (ELIF). The scheme was launched by the district council in 2024 to improve the lives of everyone in East Lindsey.
ELIF funded free training for local tourism businesses in 2026 to help them to improve their marketing and attract more customers, including dogs and their owners. Free in-person workshops took place in March, and free online workshops were offered in May. The training covered topics such as effective marketing methods, using AI for tourism marketing and how to stand out in the growing dog-friendly tourism market.
