Walkers on the Viking Way

The Viking Way, one of Lincolnshire's best-known walking routes, has celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The 149-mile trail opened in 1976 and passes through West Lindsey towns and villages including Caistor, Tealby, Walesby, Bardney and Cherry Willingham. Its name nods to the Viking settlers whose influence can still be seen in place names across the county.

If you don't fancy the full distance, the Viking Way Shorts are shorter circular walks around Tealby, Caistor, Cherry Willingham and Fiskerton.

Cllr Peter Morris said the route brings visitors into local cafés, pubs and businesses, and urged people to "lace up their walking boots". Find routes at visitlincolnshire.com/vikingway.
