Drivers around the south of Lincoln should allow extra time over the coming months as utility work continues for the North Hykeham Relief Road.
What's planned:
- A607 Grantham Road: 24-hour temporary traffic lights from Monday 16 November for up to a month, for Anglian Water diversion work ahead of a new roundabout. The council aims to have the lights gone by mid-December.
- A46/A1434 Pennells Roundabout: from Monday 4 January 2027, for up to seven weeks, Newark Road will be closed to traffic heading into Lincoln near the A46 junction. Traffic leaving Lincoln can still use it. Inbound traffic will be diverted via the A46 northbound and the A57 Saxilby Road, with local signs for North Hykeham and south Lincoln. The aim is to reopen by late February, weather permitting.
The five-mile relief road will link the A46 Pennells Roundabout with the A15 Sleaford Road, completing a ring road around Greater Lincoln.
Cllr David East, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We recognise that temporary traffic restrictions can affect people's journeys, particularly on busy routes such as Grantham Road and around Pennells Roundabout. That's why our teams will be working as efficiently as possible to complete the works safely and fully reopen the routes as soon as possible."
